frequently asked q's
what does the rivalries, enemies and ally system really mean?
While we've set out enemies, allies and neutrals for everyone, it doesn't necessarily mean you have to stick to that. Obviously your character as an individual has an opinion on the whole thing and unless it's explicitly stated in your plot, it's entirely up to you. Clearly if you're going to be best friends with one of your families enemies, you'd have to keep on the down low, since your relatives probably won't be too keen on the idea. The older family members are more likely to be harsher on the rivalry situation as opposed to the second generation, who all grew up at the same time, attended the same schools and probably know each other, if not of each other. At the same time, allied families are probably going to have spent a lot of time together so some of your characters closest friends might be within an ally family. But ultimately it's all up to you!
if my character is an ally, do they follow the law of family politics?
Not exclusively. Politics are more important to some than to others and depending on your personal relationships, you might have a completely different perspective than your parents or your siblings. We want diversity so feel free to discuss your own thoughts with those playing your relatives so you can create some interesting family dynamics.
do ally families and enemy families have to like/hate each other?
Mostly yes. They don't have to but in public they need to at least give the appearance they do unless they want to risk alienating themselves from their family and other allies. So you're playing a dangerous game if you step outside the safety of the ally zone. similarly, you are unlikely/not going to work for an enemy families business.
what does it mean by neutral in regards to family relationships?
Neutral means what it says on the tin. They have no real feelings on them, or at least no specified ones meaning it's entirely up to you. Have fun with it!
is the new york media group consist of only those who work at g.i?
Nope, you can work at a newspaper, a magazine, a radio station or even just be a freelance journalist. As a writer for GI we'd love if you could actually compose real articles about events, people or gossip. This can be posted as either anonymous or via your character, and obviously if you need any help free to speak to an admin. We'll read it through for you beforehand as well just to check for style. It's just another way to express your character and to further their career.
